Palazzo Medici-Riccardi

We'll start the tour with a visit of the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, the first palace where the Medici lived. It was not just a simple palace. It was the business house of the Medici, the symbol of their political importance, as well as the center of culture where key historical figures met, studied and worked. All the best Renaissance artist lived there, even Michelangelo.

Inside there's a masterpiece of the Renaissance art. You'll be amazed by the beautiful colors of the fantastic frescoes of the Magi done by Benozzo Gozzoli. This artwork is a symbol of XV century art and moreover a symbol of Medici political messaging.

The Cappelle Medicee
We'll continue with the visit of the Cappelle Medicee where the main tombs of the Medici are. We'll see the fantastic Cappella dei Principi, one of the few examples of the Baroque style in Florence, completely decorated with precious stones that adhere to the traditional Florentine mosaic technique. But the real masterpiece of this museum is the Sagrestia Nuova, completed and designed by Michelangelo. We'll see the tombs of the first dukes of the Medici done by the divine Michelangelo, which are considered one of his masterpieces after David and the Sistine Chapel. It will give us the chance to discover more about the fantastic life of Michelangelo, his love-hate relationship with the Medici, how he risked his life and then was saved by a Medici pope.

The Medici and Michelangelo Tour will end at the Galleria dell'Accademia to see the original David done by the divine Michelangelo.
