Oltrarno Walk: Discover a Lesser-Known Florence

It's on the left side of Florence, where, since the Middle Ages, the first artisans and then important families lived and still live. This area, the Oltrarno District, has kept its authenticity through the years, which can be seen thanks to the medieval narrow streets, the tower-houses left, the beautiful piazzas, and monuments and museums like Palazzo Pitti, the last residence of the Medici family. There are also other lesser-known amazing hidden gems of early Renaissance art sites like the Brancacci Chapel in Carmine Church, with fantastic frescoes made by Masaccio.
There are three main parts of the Oltrarno. They are the fascinating neighborhoods of San Niccolò, Santo Spirito –an area dear to Michelangelo—and finally San Frediano, recently declared by Lonely Planet one of the coolest areas in the world to see at least once in your life!
But the Oltrarno is also artisanal! The work of gold, silver, paper, mosaics and much more is waiting for you to immerse yourself in! Florence has a long tradition of these ancient crafts, handed down from generation to generation, and on the streets of this beautiful side of the city, we'll have the chance to see workshops and art studios!

If you want to discover something different and authentic of Florence, you can't miss our Oltrarno Walk!
