What can we do for breakfast?
Dietitians and nutritionists consider breakfast the most important meal of the day!
Having a good breakfast is the best way to start a day!
And if you’re in Florence where do you have to go and what do you have to eat??
Here a list of beautiful cafes that you can enjoy while you’re here in the city!
- Caffè Scudieri
It’s a historical cafe facing the Cathedral of Florence! When you enter there, you’ll immediately fall in love with the choice of amazing pastries and cakes they have!
Let’s start with an espresso first, with a regular Italian pastry made with chocolate or marmalade called cornetto (a croissant). That’s the typical Italian breakfast!
But this one, it could be a unique one… drinking your espresso while you’re looking at Brunelleschi’s dome!
- Caffe Gilli
Piazza della Repubblica is full of nice historical cafes. The cafe Gilli in particular is a very old one, around since the XVIII Century.
If in the morning you need to be taken care of, there is no better way by enjoying a cappuccino with a slice of torta della nonna, grandmother’s cake.
It’s a traditional Florentine cake. It’s a short crust pastry made with cream, pine nuts and powdered sugar! Remember that we only drink cappuccino in the morning, only until 11am!
- Caffe Pazscosky
Still in Piazza della Repubblica, it’s the cafe where most Florentine people go for breakfast.
If a simple espresso is too strong for you, you can order a macchiato (espresso with a bit of milk) or a café latte (more milk than coffee).
Try the beautiful budino di riso, the rice pudding. It is like a pudding only because it has the shape of it, but it’s actually a regular pastry with cream and rice inside!!
It’s absolutely delicious!!!
- Caffe Revoire
If you want a more unique place for your breakfast, go to Piazza della Signoria, but early in the morning. No one will be there!
Take a seat at Revoire caffe. Enjoy a unique view of Palazzo Vecchio, the city hall of Florence, while you’re having a nice cup of hot chocolate, because this café is famous for its chocolate!
You can’t miss it!! And if you need more energy, try the Florentine donuts called bomboloni with cream or chocolate or… why not… try both of them!!
Have a good day with a good breakfast in Florence!
