3 must-sees @ Uffizi Gallery

The Uffizi Musuem is one of the biggest museums of Florence and of Italy.
Including more than 100 rooms, believe me when I say that it’s easy to get overwhelmed and to wander around but if you’re wandering, you are not lost ☺

As I wrote, you can spend all day in the Uffizi (by the way, remember to stop at the Caffeteria, where they have some of the best sweets of Florence!)

Don’t miss the masterpieces!

There are some masterpieces that you should not miss, so if you don’t have too much time or if you just want to wander and not be overwhelmed, be sure to stop in front of these 3 pieces:

  • The Lippina, FIlippo Lippi

You’ll find her face on you ticket and in the first Renaissance Room.
The Lippina is the most beautiful Virgin Mary of the Uffizi, painted by Fra Filippo
Lippi around 1460-1465.
Filippo was a friar who fell in love with a beautiful nun—can you imagine the scandal?

In any case, in this incredible masterpiece you can find the beautiful nun, Lucrezia Buti, and the child that Filippo and Lucrezia had. Try and find them!

  • Birth of Venus, Botticelli

Maybe one of the most celebrated paintings of the entire Renaissance!

Even Andy Warhol did a celebration of it! Even Lady Gaga wrote a song named Venus!
Be ready for the most beautiful lady of the Renaissance. Some believe that she was a real girl from Florence: Simonetta Vespucci.

She died very young and even Giuliano de’Medici was in love with her!

  • Tondo Doni, Michelangelo

Michelangelo is the superstar and is mainly known for David and the Sistine Chapel. After the David and before the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo put all his effort into this incredible Tondo.

Tondo means round-shaped painting and Doni was the commissioner. It’s easy to believe that Doni, in front of this masterpiece, was fully satisfied but… this was not the case! He even dared to ask for a discount!! The frame is original!

The Uffizi offers much much more so… book a tour and ask us more!
